Types Of Treatment:
Pediatric Acupuncture:Depending on the age and receptiveness of your child, a quick insertion acupuncture technique may be used called “taps”. “Taps” are fine pediatric needles that create an essentially painless experience. They are named “taps” due to the rubbing and tapping that is done to numb the point before we swiftly tap the needle in. However, if you or your child have concerns about needle therapy, we have a variety of non-needle techniques that can be used instead.
Essential Oils: A simple and fun non-needle technique. Pure, organic, high quality essential oils are applied to specific acupuncture points to help alleviate signs of restlessness, ADD/ADHD, digestive complaints and boost the immune system. We can send you home with a customized blend in a roller applicator to use for home care.
Tui Na and Massage: Touch has a profound effect on the body. Tui Na is a Chinese form of massage that incorporates kneading, brushing, rolling and pressing to facilitate balance and reverse symptoms. These techniques can be used at home to continue your child’s treatment. Hands on treatments are especially effective digestive complaints, insomnia, pain and for overall wellness.
Laser Therapy, Magnets and Microcurrent: Acupuncture points are areas of electrical instability, by applying laser, micorcurrent or magnets (electromagnetic currents) we can activate the points without puncturing the skin. If your child is old enough, we leave the magnets on the skin for a few days to continue treatment.
Ear Seeds: Utilizing Auriculotherapy, which is the stimulation of specific points on the ear,the ear seeds are placed on your child’s ear to activate these different points. Ear seeds are created from the seeds of the vaccaria plant. They are all natural, non-invasive and safe. They are affixed to the surface of the ear with self adhesive tape. If your child is old enough, ear seeds can be left on for a few days to continue treatment. Ask us about the ear seed kids kit we sell at the front desk, it comes with four ear acupressure charts and a supply of ear seeds. The charts identify and label points used to support a variety of kid related conditions.
Shoni Shin: A Japanese technique using a variety tools that are tapped, rubbed or pressed on the surface of the body for a gentle, non-invasive treatment approach. Shoni shin is translated literally as “children’s needle”. The tools do not puncture the skin so this is another good non-needle technique to use for a variety of childhood ailments.
Herbal Remedies: Herbal formulas are specifically designed for a variety of conditions. These formulas work gently, just as a supplement, and take time to act but are much safer than their pharmaceutical counterprts and are very effective. We utilize the Gentle Warriors line, which are mild tasting, low alcohol, liquid tinctures that are easy for children to swallow. We customize the formula to your child by combining two or more tinctures in an amber glass dropper bottle.
Dietary/Lifestyle Modifications: Dietary and/or lifestyle modifications are essential for continued relief of symptoms. Children easily suffer from digestive complaints because their systems are not fully developed. Intake of too much sugar, dairy products and cold foods can cause diarrhea, constipation, colic and much more. We help you understand your child’s dietary and lifestyle needs to produce quick and lasting results.
